Behind the Booth: Custom Photo Booth experience for WTSFest Portland

As a women owned business, being part of WTSFest Portland felt especially meaningful. The event was built to celebrate women in tech and every detail reflected that purpose. We brought in our handcrafted photo booth as a space for connection, joy, and reflection. From custom-designed screens to thoughtful setup choices, everything was shaped to complement the energy in the room. In this blog we will dive into how it all came together.

Photo Booth Screens

Before we even started designing, we spent time learning how Women In Tech SEO wanted the event to feel. We reviewed their social media posts and read through their answers to our event questionnaire. That gave us insight into their tone, color choices, and the kind of experience they wanted their guests to have.

From there, we designed 12+ photo booth screens, from the welcome message to the final sharing screen. We used their color palette and logo in a clean cohesive layout that was easy to follow. Our goal while designing the screens was for guests to step into the booth and feel instantly connected and immersed to the environment around them.

All of our screen designs are done in house, and they can be created in any language you need. Our goal is always the same: make it feel personal, make it feel cohesive, and make it feel like it belongs.

Details in our setup

For WTSFest Portland, we wanted the photo booth setup to feel like a natural part of the event space not just something placed in the corner. Every detail was chosen to support the event’s focus on community, intention, and design.

We sewed a table cloth by hand, using a tone that matched the WTSFest color palette. It was a quiet detail, but one that grounded the prop table and made the setup feel more thoughtful. Every material we choose is part of the story. We believe soft textures and intentional color help shape how guests move through and feel in the space.

In our setups, we always aim to reflect the story and energy of each event. For WTSFest, that meant creating a booth that invited people in, felt connected to the brand, and offered a moment of joy without pulling focus from the bigger picture.

On the table, we displayed a set of statement glasses that we customized for this event along with other props. These props included phrases that connected with the WTS community and the conference such as “WTSFest 2025”. It was important to us that the props felt relevant and lighthearted, but not distracting or overly loud. They added a fun moment for guests while still respecting the tone of the room.

By the Numbers

The booth was engaged all event long with curious guests, spontaneous moments, and a whole lot of alegria filled moments. Some people dropped by with friends, others popped in between sessions, and a few returned for round two (and even round four!).

  • 60+ visited the booth

  • 75+ printouts

  • 120+ plus individual photos were captured

What made it special wasn’t just the volume of photos but the way people engaged with the space.

It was lighthearted, low pressure, and easy to step into, the kind of experience that fits seamlessly into a thoughtful event without pulling attention away from what matters most.

These photos now live in journals, desktops, and camera rolls, a memento of the fun, the smiles, and the connections that made WTSFest Portland truly special.

Final thoughts

At Alegria Photo Booth, we go beyond just providing a photo booth by curating an experience. It’s always our goal to bring your vision to life in a way that feels both unique and natural, enhancing the energy of your event. But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what Erin from WTSFest Portland had to say:

“Marivel & Taiz are the absolute best! We hired them for our WTSFest conference and our attendees absolutely adored the experience!

They were a delight to work with from start to finish - they took the time to learn about our brand, design custom templates, and give us beautiful mock ups ahead of the event so we knew exactly how everything would look!

They’re a must have for your next event!”

Feedback like this is why we love what we do. It’s not just about setting up a booth but about being part of the bigger picture and helping you create something memorable for your guests.
